Free IE 6 RSS-Atom Newsreader Plugin Looks Promising Indeed
A new free browser plugin released May 24 has huge potential as it tries to uncomplicate the world of RSS feeds and newsreaders.Still in beta release, it's called Pluck and to be honest, the userbase could take off fast with this one. If the layout, design and implementation of the website is any indication, the product will be incredible. The ability to read both RSS and Atom covers virtually all current feeds.
They have also now included an eBay auction RSS feed generator and reader. It looks to be very handy for performing searches on eBay.
Be Sure to take the Product Tour and make use of the See It Live links in each tour frame.
Pluck performs at least four major functions that enhance it's usefullness and ensure it's desirability.
The only drawback to faster growth will be the fact that it Requires IE and won't work with Win98.
And, perhaps, the fact that it is ad supported. It doesn't look like it will be invasive advertising at all. But will they pull in enough to make it all fly over time? You can read about the ad support in the general faq Here.
I also read of the possiblity they will have PPC advertising incorporated. It sounded like it may be their own program which could wind up being a Who-Knows-How-Big advertising medium.
